Developmental Checklist For Your Toddler 2 Year Old

Many parents know that toddlers develop at different rates. Truthfully, I oftentimes felt unsure as to what I should be doing with my toddlers to help them reach their developmental milestones. Checklists gave me ideasđź’ˇon what I could be working on with my toddlers at home, in a fun and engaging environment. Here are some suggestions for what you can try out with your 2 year old toddler. Remember, you are your toddler’s best (and favorite) teacherđź’•

Stairs, please

Go up and down stairs with your toddler. Let them hold onto a handrail or your hand.

1,2,3 JUMP

Jump together. When they jump forward, do they take off and land with 2 feet?

Kickball

Grab a ball. Kick it toward them. Do they attempt to kick the ball?

Point and speak

Point to basic body parts and familiar clothing items. Ask them to tell you what they are.

Enjoy a book

Encourage them to point to pictures in book when named.

Listen

Do they use 1-2 word questions such as, ‘What’s that?’, ‘Go bye-bye?’

And listen some more

Do they puts 2-4 words together such as, ‘mommy book’, or ‘more cookie please?’

Create a necklace

Strings large beads onto a shoelace together.

Have a tower building competition

Can they stack 6 blocks into a tower?

Have fun with pop beads

Have them connect them and then take them apart.
